Niger

There is political instability in Niamey with military authorities attempting to take control of the country. Air and land borders are closed and a curfew between 10pm and 5am. If you're in Niger, avoid government buildings and political gatherings, and follow the advice of local authorities. Additional restrictions may be implemented at short notice. The Australian High Commission in Abuja has very limited capacity to provide consular assistance in Niger. We continue to advise:  Do not travel to Niger (excluding Niamey) due to the high threat of kidnapping, terrorist attack, crime and the volatile security environment.

Laos

Papua New Guinea

The Enga government has declared a three-month daily curfew for the province between 9pm and 6am from 26 July. Other travel restrictions, including restriction of movement or checkpoints, may occur at short notice. Follow the advice of local authorities. See 'Safety'. Italy

Extreme temperatures are affecting many areas of Italy and there are several active wildfires, including on the island of Sicily. Expect travel disruptions if you're travelling in an area affected by wildfires. Contact your travel provider for the latest update. Monitor the media for updates and follow the advice of local authorities. We advise: Exercise normal safety precautions in Italy.  

Hungary

We've reviewed our travel advice level for Hungary. We haven't changed the level, exercise normal safety precautions. We advise: Exercise normal safety precautions in Hungary.

Nicaragua

We've reviewed our travel advice for Nicaragua. We haven't changed our level of advice, exercise a high degree of caution. Check with the nearest embassy or consulate of Nicaragua to confirm the latest entry requirements before travel. Greece

We've reviewed our travel advice for Greece. We haven't changed the level, exercise normal safety precautions. Heatwaves are becoming more frequent. Drink plenty of water, wear light clothing, stay in air conditioned buildings or shaded areas, and follow the advice of local authorities. Wildfires can start quickly in the summer months with little warning. Monitor local media for updates. Petty crime and theft are serious issues in tourist areas and on buses and trains. Pickpocketing, bag snatching, and slashing luggage to steal belongings are common, particularly over the summer. Pay close attention to your belongings, particularly your passport, bank cards and phone. We advise: Exercise normal safety precautions in Greece.

Serbia

Belgrade Airport is currently experiencing disruption with its baggage handling services. Your bags may be significantly delayed if you're transiting or arriving at the airport. Pack essential items, including medication, in your hand luggage (see 'Travel'). We advise: Exercise normal safety precautions in Serbia.

Ghana

Honduras

A State of Exception to decrease crime rates is in place in some parts of Honduras municipalities. There may be restrictions on freedom of movement, including curfews and other rights. Carry identification at all times. Comply with all local laws and police instructions. Monitor local media for updates. Belize

We've reviewed our advice for Belize and continue to advise exercise a high degree of caution overall. We now advise reconsider your need to travel to the Southside of Belize City (south of Haulover Creek Canal) (see 'Safety'). Turkmenistan

United Arab Emirates

We've reviewed our advice for the UAE and have lowered the travel advice level. We now advise exercise normal safety precautions. Maldives

We've reviewed our advice for Maldives and continue to advise exercise a high degree of caution. We've opened a new High Commission in Malé to provide consular services to Australians in the Maldives. (See 'Local contacts'). Israel and the Palestinian Territories

A ceasefire was announced on 13 May following days of conflict between Israeli Defense Forces and militant groups in Gaza. The situation remains unpredictable and rocket attacks may continue. Tensions in the West Bank remain high and could escalate with little or no warning. Be alert. Monitor media and public safety information updates through the National Emergency Portal (accessible in Israel only). Check with your travel provider before travelling. See 'Safety'.
