Venezuela

Limited flight schedules exist into and out of Venezuela and a negative COVID-19 (PCR) test is required to enter (See Travel). Australia doesn't have an embassy or consulate in Venezuela. Contact the Australian Embassy in Colombia for assistance (see Local Contacts). We advise: Do not travel  to Venezuela due to the unstable political and economic situation, shortages of food, water, medicine and petrol, and high levels of violent crime.

Jordan

You're no longer required to undergo COVID-19 (PCR) testing pre-departure or upon arrival in Jordan, but you must obtain a personal QR code prior to travel (see 'Travel'). We advise: Exercise a high degree of caution in Jordan overall due to: the threat of terrorist attack, and  the impacts of COVID-19. Higher levels apply in some areas. 

Greece

If you're entering Greece from Australia, you'll need a COVID-19 vaccination certificate that's no more than 9 months old. If you're not vaccinated you'll need a negative PCR test conducted at least 72 hours before travelling, or a negative rapid antigen test taken 24 hours before travelling. If you've had a booster shot, your vaccination certificate isn't subject to an expiry limit. Greece has COVID-19 restrictions in place that differ for vaccinated and unvaccinated travellers. Masks and social distancing are mandatory in all indoor spaces (such as shops and airports) as well as for all outdoor areas. We advise: Exercise a high degree of caution in Greece due to the impacts of COVID-19.

French Polynesia

COVID-19 remains a risk in French Polynesia. Specific measures apply to travel to and from French Polynesia according to where you have been or where you are going. You'll need to provide proof you're fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and a negative PCR or supervised rapid antigen test result taken no longer than 24 hours before departure. If your last dose of a COVID-19 vaccine was more than 9 months ago, you must have a booster dose to be considered fully vaccinated. Follow the advice of local authorities. Strict measures also apply to inter-island travel. You'll need to show your International COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate along with your passport to travel from Tahiti, Moorea and Tetiaroa to other islands, and to enter certain venues (see 'Travel'). We now advise:  Exercise a high degree of caution in French Polynesia due to the impacts of COVID-19.

Ukraine border regions

Senegal

Air, land and sea borders, except those with Mali, are open. Commercial air transport has resumed but may be limited. The Australian High Commission in Accra currently has very limited capacity to provide consular assistance in Senegal. We now advise: Exercise a high degree of caution in Senegal overall due to the threat of criminal activity and civil unrest.

Iceland

If you're entering Iceland you must have a COVID-19 test before boarding or after arrival, depending on your vaccination status and ties to Iceland. You can enter Iceland if you're fully vaccinated or have previously been infected with COVID-19. You must register before arriving in Iceland. If you're not vaccinated, have not recovered from COVID-19, and are not in an exempt category, you can't enter Iceland. Local restrictions apply and can change at short notice. We advise: Exercise a high degree of caution in Iceland due to impacts of COVID-19.

Brunei Darussalam

Transit and entry restrictions remain in place for visitors, including a requirement for travel health insurance with a minimum COVID-19 coverage of $50,000 BND, an Entry Travel Pass, a negative COVID-19 (PCR) test result taken within 48 hours prior to departure and a Antigen Rapid Test within 24 hours of departure. You'll also be required to undertake an Antigen Rapid Test and undertake a period of self-isolation on arrival. If you're in Brunei, follow the advice of local authorities. Familiarise yourself with local regulations and restrictions. Brunei long-term residents or citizens must be vaccinated against COVID-19 to leave the country. We advise: Exercise a high degree of caution in Brunei due to the impacts of COVID-19.

Cuba

To enter Cuba you must show proof of full vaccination, a negative PCR test taken 72 hours prior to travel and a completed health declaration form (see "Travel"). Strict hygiene regulations are in place at tourist resorts, restaurants and shopping venues. Follow the advice of local authorities. We advise: Reconsider your need to travel to Cuba due to the impacts of COVID-19.

Israel and the Palestinian Territories

Non-Israeli citizens are allowed to enter Israel if you meet all current entry requirements. If you're permitted entry, you must undertake a period of quarantine. Measures are in place to limit the spread of COVID-19 in the Palestinian Territories. Measures include restrictions at tourist and religious sites. Gaza’s entry and exit points with Egypt may close without notice. We advise: Exercise a high degree of caution in Israel and the Palestinian Territories overall due to civil unrest and the threat of terrorist attack, rocket fire and military confrontation. Higher levels apply in some areas.

El Salvador

You no longer need to provide a negative COVID-19 test or vaccination certificate to enter El Salvador. We advise: Reconsider your need to travel to El Salvador due to the impacts of COVID-19.

Timor-Leste

COVID-19 remains a serious health risk. Fully vaccinated travellers can enter Timor-Leste without prior approval or quarantine. You must present evidence of a negative COVID-19 (PCR) test taken 72 hours before departure and proof of full vaccination (two doses) at check-in. Entry requirements can change with little notice. If you don't comply with entry requirements, you'll be subject to 14 days quarantine. On arrival you'll undergo medical screening and must return a negative COVID-19 test result. If found to be COVID-19 positive you'll be quarantined at a location determined by authorities, likely at your own expense, and required to undergo additional testing. We advise: Reconsider your need to travel to Timor-Leste due to the impacts of COVID-19.

Bangladesh

You may need to isolate on arrival to Bangladesh, depending on your port of embarkation. Contact your airline for further information. You must present a negative COVID-19 test certificate on arrival (regardless of vaccination status). The test must have been taken within 48 hours of your departure from your port of embarkation. These requirements may change at short notice. Contact your local Bangladesh Mission and airline before making arrangements to travel to Bangladesh. We advise: Exercise a high degree of caution in Bangladesh overall due to the high threat of terrorist attack. Higher levels apply in some areas.  

Botswana

The travel advice level has been lowered to ‘Reconsider your need to travel’ to Botswana due to the impacts of COVID-19 and disruptions to global travel. Several destinations continue to restrict entry or transit of travellers from Botswana. These restrictions may change at short notice We now advise: Reconsider your need to travel Botswana due to the impacts of COVID-19 and disruptions to global travel.

Belize

All travellers entering Belize, including children, will be required to purchase travel health insurance from a local provider. This is mandatory even if you have your own personal insurance. For full details of entry requirements see "Travel". We advise: Exercise a high degree of caution in Belize due to the risk of serious violent crime.

Slovakia

To enter Slovakia you'll need to be fully vaccinated. Otherwise you must self-isolate for 10 days. Shops (other than those selling essential items), restaurants and other hospitality and cultural venues generally need proof of vaccination or recovery from COVID-19. Further changes may occur at short notice, so check for updates before travel. Carry a printout of your Australian International COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate when travelling in Slovakia to assist with entering hospitality and cultural venues. We advise: Exercise a high degree of caution in Slovakia due to the impacts of COVID-19.

Guatemala

To enter Guatemala, those aged 12 and over must show proof of full vaccination. Those aged 10 and over must show a negative PCR or antigen test conducted no more than 72 hours prior to travel. Expect movement restrictions, strict enforcement of mask wearing, restrictions on social gatherings and other sanitary measures in public spaces. We advise: Reconsider your need to travel to Guatemala due to the impacts of COVID-19.

Poland

You must have a negative COVID-19 (PCR) test to enter Poland from outside the Schengen Area. There must be no more than 24 hours between obtaining the test result and crossing the border. If you’re travelling by land you must have a valid Australian passport, negative COVID-19 test and proof of vaccination or proof of recovery from COVID-19 (see 'Travel'). A state of emergency remains in place in areas within approximately 3kms of the Belarusian border, including parts of Podlaskie and Lubelskie Voivodeships. Reconsider your need to be in these areas due to increased restrictions on movement, assembly and activities. Follow the instructions of Polish authorities and carry ID with you at all times if you're in these areas. We advise: Exercise a high degree of caution in Poland due to the impacts of COVID-19. Higher levels apply in some areas.

Ecuador

If you're over 12 years of age, you must present your COVID-19 vaccination card to enter any establishment providing non-essential services in Ecuador. The land border with Colombia is open only through the ‘Rumichaca’ international checkpoint. The land border with Peru remains closed, though you may be able to enter via the Huaquillas checkpoint if you're an Ecuadorean national or foreign resident. (see‘ Travel’). We advise: Reconsider your need to travel to Ecuador overall due to the impacts of COVID-19. Higher levels apply in some areas.

Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia has resumed tourist visas for vaccinated international travellers. However, visas on arrival remain suspended. You'll need proof of vaccination status. You're now required to provide a negative COVID-19 PCR test within 48 hrs of arrival. Travel to and from several destinations has been suspended due to concerns over the spread of COVID-19. Check with local authorities for the latest updates. We advise: Reconsider your need to travel  to Saudi Arabia overall due to terrorism and political tension. Higher levels apply in some areas.

Moldova

Moldova has implemented measures to protect against the Omicron variant of COVID-19. See 'Travel' section for details. We advise: Exercise a high degree of caution in Moldova overall due to the impacts of COVID-19.

Canada

From 30 November, entry restrictions and prohibitions apply if you're arriving in Canada from specific countries within the previous 14 days. With the exception of those departing from the USA, all fully vaccinated travellers arriving by air will need to have a PCR test on arrival and will need to quarantine while waiting for test results. Unvaccinated travellers, with right of entry to Canada, will be tested upon arrival and day 8, and must quarantine for 14 days. Travellers 12 years and older need to qualify as a fully vaccinated traveller to depart from Canadian airports or travel on VIA Rail or Rocky Mountaineer trains. This will also apply to travellers on cruise ships when the season commences in 2022 (see 'Travel'). We advise:  Exercise a high degree of caution in Canada due to the impacts of COVID-19.

Russia

Entry into Russia, including through land borders, is restricted for some foreign travellers, including Australians. Residents, close family members of Russian citizens and residents, members of diplomatic missions, essential workers and some other categories of travellers may be allowed to enter. Foreign citizens allowed to enter Russia for work purposes or who intend to stay over 90 calendar days may be subject to biometric fingerprinting and regular medical check-ups. COVID-19 cases continue to rise, reaching record levels. Some regions have introduced stricter measures with QR codes required in public venues and on public transport. Non-working days (lockdown) and other measures can be introduced throughout Russia at short notice (See 'Travel'.) We advise: Reconsider your need to travel to Russia overall due to the impacts of COVID-19. Higher levels apply in some areas.

Belarus

Flights in and out of Belarus are extremely limited. A number of countries have banned the overflight of their airspace by Belarusian airlines. Including all EU member states, the UK and Ukraine. Travel to or from Belarus is only possible through an indirect air route via a country that has not imposed a ban. Travel restrictions due to COVID-19 remain in place. Access to routine outpatient medical services may be limited dependant on the number of COVID-19 cases (see ‘Health’ and 'Travel'). We now advise you Do not travel to areas near borders with Latvia, Lithuania and Poland due to ongoing civil unrest. Be aware that there are joint military exercises underway between Belarus and Russia on Belarus' western and southern borders (see ‘Safety’). We advise: Reconsider your need to travel  to Belarus due to the impacts of COVID-19. Higher levels apply in some areas.

Philippines

Fully vaccinated arrivals are no longer required to quarantine on arrival. From 10 February, fully vaccinated Australians are allowed to enter the Philippines, without a visa, provided they meet certain requirements. A range of COVID-19 measures are in place throughout the country. These can change regularly. Follow the Philippines Department of Tourism for the latest advice. We advise: Reconsider your need to travel to the Philippines overall due to the impacts of COVID-19. Higher levels apply in some areas.

Turkey

Some entry requirements have changed, depending on where you've been in the 14 days before you arrive (see 'Travel'). We advise: Exercise a high degree of caution in Turkey overall due to the high threat of terrorist attack.

Morocco

All flights to and from Morocco have been suspended in response to the new COVID-19 Omicron variant. Contact local authorities and your travel provider for confirmation on entry and/or exit requirements. Monitor local media and follow the advice of local authorities as restrictions may apply at short notice.
