United Arab Emirates

For entry into the UAE, your Australian passport must have at least two words in the name fields. If you have only one name in your passport, you will be refused entry. Missile and rocket attacks from Yemen are possible. Be alert, monitor the media for developments and follow the advice of local authorities. Contact your airline or nearest UAE Embassy for updates on entry or exit requirements, which may change at short notice. United States of America

We’ve reviewed our advice for the US. We haven’t changed the level of our advice, exercise normal safety precautions. Check entry, transit and exit requirements. You don't need to take a COVID-19 test before travelling to the US, unless you're departing from, or have recently been in China, including Hong Kong and Macau. We advise: Exercise normal safety precautions in the United States of America.

Honduras

We've reviewed our advice for Honduras. We haven't changed the level of our advice, exercise a high degree of caution. Higher levels apply. The current State of Exception in Honduras has been extended until 20 April. It covers 235 of the 298 municipalities. There may be restrictions on freedom of movement and other rights. Monitor local media for updates. Carry identification at all times. Comply with all local laws and police instructions. We advise: Exercise a high degree of caution in Honduras overall due to high levels of violent crime. Higher levels apply in some areas.

Albania

We've reviewed our advice for Albania. We haven't changed the level of our advice, exercise a high degree of caution. COVID-19 measures have been lifted but you must follow the advice of local authorities. We advise: Exercise a high degree of caution in Albania due to limited healthcare options. 

Mozambique

Tropical cyclone Freddy is expected to make landfall near the city of Beira in Sofala province on 23 February or 24 February. Follow the advice of local authorities. For up-to-date information, monitor local news sources, including radio. There's an extreme risk of terrorism in Cabo Delgado province and in Erati and Memba districts of Nampula province. We continue to advise do not travel to Cabo Delgado province, we now also advise do not travel to Erati and Memba districts of Nampula province. Terrorists are likely to target areas frequented by foreigners or where foreign companies operate and where expatriate staff reside. Australians in Cabo Delgado and in Erati and Memba districts of Nampula province should leave the area if it's safe to do so. Ukraine

We continue to advise you do not travel to Ukraine due to the volatile security environment and military conflict. If you're currently in Ukraine, we urge you to depart if it's safe to do so. Do not enter into new surrogacy arrangements. Due to the Russian invasion, the security situation continues to be volatile and could deteriorate suddenly. You'll need to travel to the nearest Australian Embassy or Consulate, at your own expense, to obtain a travel document for your child. The Australian Embassy in Kyiv remains temporarily closed. The Russian invasion of Ukraine is ongoing. The security situation continues to be volatile. Heavy fighting is occurring in parts of eastern and southern Ukraine. Missile strikes and attacks are ongoing in some locations across the country, including in major cities. There have been many casualties. Foreigners have been killed and may be targeted. Madagascar

Intense tropical cyclone Freddy is expected to make landfall on the central eastern coastline of Madagascar late Tuesday night (21 February) or early Wednesday morning (22 February). Follow the advice of local authorities. Monitor local news sources, including radio and the Bureau Nationale de Gestion des Risques et des Catastrophes (BNGRC) for up-to-date information. Avoid affected areas. If you're already in Madagascar, decide early whether to shelter in place or leave. We now advise: Exercise a high degree of caution in Madagascar due to the potential for crime, natural disasters and disease outbreaks.

Vietnam

We've reviewed our advice for Vietnam. We've lowered the travel advice level. We now advise exercise normal safety precautions. You no longer need to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or tests to enter Vietnam. You'll need to isolate if you contract COVID-19 in Vietnam and closely monitor your health if you're a close contact. Public health measures such as social distancing and mask-wearing are in place. These vary between provinces and could change at short notice. Follow the advice of local authorities. We advise: Exercise normal safety precautions in Vietnam.

Indonesia

On 7 January 2023, Mount Marapi in West Sumatra erupted. Indonesian authorities have imposed a 3km exclusion zone around the area at this time. Avoid the area and follow the advice of local authorities. Indonesian Parliament has passed revisions to its criminal code, which includes penalties for cohabitation and sex outside of marriage. These revisions will not come into force for three years. Subscribe to the travel advice to stay up to date. Check the latest visa, entry and vaccination requirements with your travel provider or your nearest Indonesian Embassy or Consulate before travel. You must have received a full initial COVID-19 vaccine course (usually 2 doses) to enter Indonesia. Children under 18 are not required to be vaccinated to enter Indonesia; however, for domestic travel, further vaccination and booster requirements apply for adults and children aged between 6 and 17 years. Syria

On 6 February, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake occurred in Nurdagi, central Türkiye, close to the city of Gaziantep. The earthquake was felt in neighbouring countries, including Syria. A 7.7 magnitude earthquake followed in Elbistan, Kahramanmaras. Be prepared for aftershocks. Monitor local media for advice and follow directions of local authorities. Contact your friends and family as soon as possible to let them know you’re safe. If you have significant concerns for your welfare, or that of another Australian, contact the Consular Emergency Centre on 1300 555 135 in Australia or +61 2 6261 3305 outside Australia.
