Niue

Iraq

There have been recent violent clashes in and around the International Green Zone in Baghdad and other governorates of Iraq. The violence has de-escalated, but the security situation throughout Iraq remains volatile. Due to the volatile security environment and the ongoing threat of kidnappings, you should leave Iraq immediately by commercial means if it's safe to do so. If you're staying in Iraq, be alert and check media for updates on new threats. We continue to advise: Do not travel to Iraq, including the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, due to the volatile security situation and very high risk of violence, armed conflict, kidnapping and terrorist attack.

Angola

Legislative elections took place on 24 August. Demonstrations could take place which could become violent. Avoid large gatherings and political rallies. Follow the instructions of local authorities. We advise: Exercise a high degree of caution in Angola overall due to the risk of civil unrest and violent crime. Higher levels apply in some areas.

Pakistan

A National Emergency has been declared in Pakistan following severe flooding caused by monsoonal rains. There have been significant casualties and widespread damage to infrastructure, including roads and bridges. Essential services may be disrupted. Follow the advice of local authorities and check media for updates. We advise: Reconsider your need to travel to Pakistan overall due to the volatile security situation and high threat of terrorist attack, kidnapping and violence. Higher levels apply in some areas.

Vanuatu

We've reviewed our advice for Vanuatu. We've lowered the travel advice level. We now advise you exercise normal safety precautions. You'll still need to follow COVID-19 measures, such as providing evidence of a supervised negative COVID-19 (RAT or PCR) test result or proof of recent recovery. (See 'Travel'). Norway

Norway has lowered its terror threat level after temporarily raising it following nightclub shootings in Oslo in June. Cases of Monkeypox have been detected in Norway. Follow the advice of local authorities. We advise: Exercise normal safety precautions in Norway.

Iceland

Cases of Monkeypox have been detected in Iceland. Follow the advice of local authorities. Avoid areas near volcano eruption sites and areas close to mountains with steep slopes on the Reykjanes peninsula due to the danger of falling rocks. We advise: Exercise normal safety precautions in Iceland.

Libya

We've reviewed our advice for Libya. We haven't changed the overall level of our advice, do not travel. If you're in Libya and it's safe to do so, leave as soon as possible. Monitor the website and social media of airlines and airports for available flights. We can’t advise you on the safety of departure options. Due to the ongoing unrest, our ability to provide consular services is severely limited. Contact the Embassy in Rome if you require consular assistance. Finland

Brazil

We’ve reviewed our advice for Brazil. We haven’t changed the level of our advice, exercise a high degree of caution due to high crime rates. Brazilian authorities are expecting large-scale protests in a number of cities in the lead up to and on Brazil’s Independence Day, on 7 September. You should follow the instructions of local authorities and review our guidance on staying safe when there are demonstrations. (See 'Safety'). Rwanda

You no longer need a COVID-19 test to enter Rwanda. Additional COVID-19 testing is no longer in place on arrival at or departing Kigali International Airport. You should confirm rules for departure with your airline, noting these rules may vary between airlines. We advise: Exercise a high degree of caution in Rwanda overall due to the threat of violence and crime.  Other levels apply in some areas.

Burundi

You're no longer required to present a negative COVID-19 test prior to travelling to Burundi. You must take a COVID-19 test on arrival and self-isolate at a hotel of your choice for 24 hours until you receive the test results. If you test positive for COVID-19, you'll be asked to self-quarantine at your own cost. There is no longer a requirement to present a negative COVID-19 test to depart Burundi. (See 'Travel'). We advise: Reconsider your need to travel to Burundi overall due to the threats of terrorism and political violence.

Sudan

We’ve reviewed our advice for Sudan. We haven’t changed the level of our advice, reconsider your need to travel due to ongoing civil unrest and the threat of terrorist attack. Kuwait

COVID-19 travel restrictions have lifted. Entry requirements are the same for all travellers, regardless of vaccination status. Visas on arrival have resumed. (See 'Travel'). We advise: Exercise a high degree of caution in Kuwait due to the possibility of terrorist attacks.

Ethiopia

We've reviewed our advice for Ethiopia. We haven't changed the overall level, reconsider your need to travel. The security situation in Ethiopia remains uncertain. Some areas have an increased risk and we have raised the level of advice. We continue to advise do not travel to the Regional States of Tigray, bordering areas of Amhara and Afar States, Somali region and most international land borders. We now advise do not travel to East and West Wollega in Oromia Region or Metekel Zone of Benishangul Gumuz Regional State. We advise: Reconsider your need to travel to Ethiopia due to ongoing civil unrest and armed conflicts in the north of the country and the risk of them spreading to new areas without warning. Ukraine

The Ukrainian Government has warned about the potential for Russia to launch strikes against civilian infrastructure and government facilities in the coming days to coincide with Ukraine’s Independence Day on 24 August. If you're in Ukraine, you should avoid crowds or any celebrations. Russian strikes in Ukraine pose a continued threat to civilians and civilian infrastructure. We continue to advise you do not travel to Ukraine due to the volatile security environment and military conflict. If you're currently in Ukraine, we urge you to depart if it's safe to do so. The Russian invasion of Ukraine is ongoing. The security situation continues to be volatile. Heavy fighting is occurring in parts of eastern and southern Ukraine. Belarus

We've reviewed our advice for Belarus. We haven't changed the level of our advice. Do not travel to Belarus due to the volatile security environment caused by the Russian military presence along Belarus' border with Ukraine and military conflict. Russian forces are conducting military operations from Belarus, which has heightened regional tensions. The security environment is volatile and could deteriorate at short notice. Do not attempt to travel to the Belarus-Ukraine border or cross into Ukraine from Belarus. We continue to advise do not travel near borders with Latvia, Lithuania and Poland due to ongoing civil unrest and potential for armed violence. Chile

Chile has revised its COVID-19 action plan, including the management of its borders. To enter Chile, you must have a valid visa prior to arrival. Depending on the alert level, there are different entry requirements (see ‘Travel’). The visa and the International Travellers Affidavit are mandatory for travellers entering Chile. We advise: Exercise a high degree of caution in Chile due to potential demonstrations, civil unrest, and violence.

Albania

We've reviewed our advice for Albania. We haven't changed the level of our advice, exercise a high degree of caution. COVID-19 measures have been lifted but you still need to follow the advice of local authorities and social distancing rules. We advise: Exercise a high degree of caution in Albania due to the strained healthcare system. 

Sri Lanka

A Public Emergency can be declared and curfews may be imposed at short notice. Demonstrations continue to occur in Colombo. Several violent incidents have taken place during large demonstrations. Avoid areas impacted by demonstrations. Carry relevant travel and identification documents with you at all times. Follow the advice of local authorities and monitor the media for updates. We continue to advise you reconsider your need to travel to Sri Lanka due to the security situation. The Australian Government has authorised the voluntary departure of dependents of Australian High Commission staff in Colombo. Sri Lanka is experiencing a shortage of fuel, cooking gas and medicines. Romania

The Gambia

We’ve reviewed our advice for The Gambia. We haven’t changed the overall level of our advice, exercise a high degree of caution. Other levels apply in some areas. COVID-19 measures have eased allowing hotels and other venues to resume business. These measures can change at short notice. India

We've reviewed our advice for India. We haven't changed the level of our advice, exercise a high degree of caution. Higher levels apply in some areas. All travellers to India must complete the 'Air Suvidha self-declaration form' before departure. Travellers from specified countries, including Australia, may upload their vaccination certificate or a negative COVID-19 (RT-PCR) test report to support their Air Suvidha declaration. COVID-19 restrictions, including localised lockdowns and curfews, may be imposed at short notice. Monitor local media for the latest updates. We advise: Exercise a high degree of caution in India overall due to the high threat of terrorist activity, civil unrest and crime. Higher levels apply in some areas.

Ireland

We're reviewed the travel advice level for Ireland. We now advise you exercise normal safety precautions. You no longer need to show any proof of vaccination, proof of recovery, proof of a negative COVID-19 test or an Irish passenger locator form on arrival in Ireland. There are no post-arrival testing or quarantine requirements. If you develop COVID-19 symptoms while in Ireland, follow local government advice regarding isolation and taking an antigen or PCR test (see "Travel"). Mali

The US Government has issued an alert warning that a terrorist attack may be planned targeting Malian government offices, the airport and/or locations frequented by Westerners including embassies, hotels and restaurants (see ‘Safety’). We continue to advise do not travel to Mali. The political and security situation could get worse suddenly. The Canadian Embassy can provide limited emergency consular assistance to Australians in need (see 'Local contacts'). We continue to advise: Do not travel to Mali overall due to the high risk of terrorist attack and kidnapping. Other levels apply in some areas.

Burkina Faso

We advise you do not travel to Burkina Faso due to civil unrest, the high risk of terrorist attack and kidnapping. The Australian High Commission in Accra has very limited capacity to provide consular assistance in West Africa. The situation could deteriorate quickly at short notice. If you’re in Burkina Faso you should make plans to leave when it’s safe to do so. Contact airlines or travel providers for more details. There's a high risk of terrorist attacks and kidnapping. Local extremist militant groups have attacked targets in Burkina Faso. If you’re caught up in unrest, you should shelter in a safe place, avoid large gatherings and demonstrations and monitor the media. Pay attention to your personal safety. Moldova

Several bomb threats have recently been made against the international airport, shopping centres and other official buildings in the capital, Chisinau. Disruptions and delays are likely to occur as authorities respond to any threats. Monitor the media and follow the advice of local authorities. Reconsider your need to travel to Moldova due to the volatile security environment and military conflict in neighbouring Ukraine. Moldovan airspace is restricted. There are only a limited number of flights to and from Moldova. Russia's invasion of Ukraine is ongoing. Heavy fighting, including bombardments, explosions and missile launches, is ongoing throughout Ukraine. Civilians are being affected. If you're travelling to Fiji from a 'Country of Interest', you'll undergo Monkeypox screening on arrival before proceeding to the Immigration desk. Fiji has recently updated its list of 'Countries of Interest' (see 'Travel'). Entry and exit conditions can change at short notice. Contact your nearest embassy or consulate of Fiji for details. Switzerland

Myanmar

We've reviewed our advice for Myanmar. We continue to advise you 'do not travel' to Myanmar due to ongoing civil unrest and armed conflict. If it's safe to do so, leave Myanmar via commercial airline. Remain aware of the security environment at all times. Exercise caution and monitor media closely. Avoid all public gatherings, protests and areas of known and possible unrest. Violence, including explosions and attacks, can occur anywhere and anytime, including in Yangon. The main targets have been infrastructure, police and military vehicles, and security and administrative personnel. However, there have been civilian targets (including schools, petrol stations, supermarkets, restaurants, bars and shopping malls). Exercise caution in townships under martial law. Malaysia

Malaysia has reopened to international tourism. New entry requirements are in place. Check entry requirements on the 'My Safe Travel' website. These requirements may change at short notice. Monitor the websites of the Malaysian Department of Immigration, My Safe Travel and Malaysian Ministry of Health, and social media for any changes (see ‘Travel’). We advise: Exercise a high degree of caution in Malaysia overall due to the impacts of COVID-19. Higher levels apply in some areas.

Macau

Macau has strict entry requirements in place, including hotel quarantine, multiple COVID-19 (PCR) tests and proof of COVID-19 vaccination. If you're travelling to Macau, continue to monitor entry requirements on the Macau Immigration Service website. We advise: Exercise a high degree of caution in Macau due to the impacts of COVID-19.

Brunei Darussalam

We've reviewed our advice for Brunei. We haven't changed the level of our advice, exercise normal safety precautions. You'll still need to follow COVID-19 measures. This includes completing a E-health Arrival Declaration form and have COVID-19 health insurance with a minimum coverage of $BND 20,000. (See 'Travel'). Taiwan

From 15 August 2022, travellers coming to Taiwan (including transit passengers) are no longer required to present a negative COVID-19 (PCR) test result before boarding. International transits at Taiwan's airports are permitted. Entry restrictions to Taiwan have changed to allow certain categories of short-term visitors (including interns and those visiting for language study or international exchanges) to enter Taiwan (See 'Travel'). We advise:  Exercise a high degree of caution in Taiwan due to the impacts of COVID-19.

Syria

We've reviewed our advice for Syria. We haven't changed the level of our advice, do not travel. Entry and exit measures for Syria may change without notice. If you’re planning to cross to Lebanon, contact Lebanese authorities for requirements. The security situation remains extremely volatile. If you're in Syria, leave as soon as possible. We advise: Do not travel to Syria due to the extremely dangerous security situation. Armed conflict is ongoing and air strikes, kidnappings and terrorist attacks are common.

Türkiye

We've reviewed our travel advice for Türkiye. We continue to advise you exercise a high degree of caution. All COVID-19 entry restrictions for Türkiye have been lifted. You're no longer required to present proof of vaccination or negative COVID-19 (PCR) test results on arrival. We advise: Exercise a high degree of caution in Türkiye overall due to the high threat of terrorist attack. Higher levels apply.

Lebanon

We’ve reviewed our advice for Lebanon. We haven’t changed the level of our advice, reconsider your need to travel. Higher levels apply in other areas. There have been armed clashes in some areas of Beirut and Lebanon. Protests occur regularly and could turn violent. You'll still need to follow COVID-19 measures. (See 'Travel'). Honduras

Portugal

We've lowered the travel advice for Portugal. We now advise you exercise normal safety precautions. You no longer need a COVID-19 vaccination certificate or negative COVID-19 test to enter Portugal. You must wear a face mask on public transport and in health care facilities. Community transmission of COVID-19 remains high. Bush fires are impacting mainland Portugal this summer. Russia

We've reviewed our advice for Russia. Do not travel to Russia due to the security environment and the impacts of the military conflict with Ukraine. There are limited transportation options, restrictions on financial transactions and possible shortages of essential products and services. The security situation could deteriorate further with little warning. Security incidents often occur in the regions of Russia bordering Ukraine, including explosions and large fires. Do not attempt to travel to the Russia-Ukraine border or cross into Ukraine from Russia. Laws have been passed that severely inhibit free speech related to the military conflict with Ukraine and Russian military forces. Avoid any protests or demonstrations and avoid commenting publicly on political developments. Russian authorities may adopt a more negative attitude towards foreigners in Russia and enforce local laws in an arbitrary manner. Hong Kong

Fully vaccinated travellers can enter Hong Kong. You must present your COVID-19 vaccination record and evidence of quarantine hotel booking. You'll need to quarantine for 3 days in designated quarantine hotel (see 'Travel'). You must also have evidence of a valid negative COVID-19 (nucleic acid) test issued within 48 hours of boarding your flight. You'll need to take a COVID-19 (RAT) as well as (PCR) test on arrival. You'll also need to take multiple COVID-19 tests during quarantine and period of medical surveillance. Dual citizenship is no longer recognised in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region following the application of the Nationality Law of the People’s Republic of China (see ‘Local laws’). As previously advised, Hong Kong's National Security Law could be interpreted broadly and you could break the law without intending to. Austria

All COVID-19 entry restrictions into Austria have been lifted. The use of FFP2 face masks may be required in some settings. Angola

Somalia

Guatemala

Entry requirements for Guatemala depend on your age, vaccination status and COVID-19 test results (see 'Travel'). Vietnam

We've reviewed our advice for Vietnam. We haven't changed the level of our advice, exercise a high degree of caution. You no longer need to provide a negative COVID-19 test result or vaccination certificate to enter Vietnam. Airlines may have different requirements. You'll need to isolate if you contract COVID-19 in Vietnam and you'll need to closely monitor your health if you're a close contact. Public health measures (such as social distancing and mask-wearing) are in place, but vary between provinces and could change at short notice. Measures could impact your ability to travel and access essential services. Follow the advice of local authorities. Monitor the Australian Embassy's social media for major updates. We advise: Exercise a high degree of caution in Vietnam due to the ongoing impact of public health measures.

Colombia

Cambodia

We've reviewed our advice for Cambodia. We haven't changed the level of our advice. We advise you exercise normal safety precautions. Cambodia has recommenced the Visa-on-Arrival program. If you can show proof of vaccination, you don't need any COVID-19 tests pre-departure or on-arrival. You can travel to Cambodia via air, land and sea. If you're unvaccinated, you're still required to quarantine for 7 days. We advise: Exercise normal safety precautions in Cambodia.

Marshall Islands

We’ve reviewed our advice for Marshall Islands. We haven’t changed the level of our advice, exercise a high degree of caution. Marshall Islands has confirmed community transmission of COVID-19. There'll be disruptions to healthcare and other COVID-19 measures you'll need to follow. This includes wearing a face mask. All travel to the outer islands has been suspended. Follow the Australian Embassy in the Marshall Islands' social media account for regular updates (see 'Local contacts'). We advise: Exercise a high degree of caution in Marshall Islands due to local restrictions and limited healthcare systems.

Cuba

Zimbabwe

Sierra Leone

There was an outbreak of anthrax in animals in the Port Loko district in north western Sierra Leone. The outbreak is currently contained to that district. Avoid contact with any sick animals in that area as anthrax can be contagious to humans. We advise: Exercise a high degree of caution in Sierra Leone due to: the high level of crime the possibility of civil unrest. 

Guinea

There's heightened political unrest in Guinea, with the potential for the situation to deteriorate without warning. You should remain vigilant, monitor local media, and avoid movement (see 'Safety'). The Australian High Commission in Accra has very limited capacity to provide consular assistance in Guinea. We advise:  Exercise a high degree of caution in Guinea overall due to political and social tensions that can lead to violence.

Senegal

If you're fully vaccinated you must show a COVID-19 vaccination certificate with a QR code before boarding your flight. If you're not fully vaccinated you must show a negative COVID-19 PCR or RT-PCR test result issued within 72 hours of departure. Nicaragua

We've reviewed the travel advice for Nicaragua. We haven't changed the advice level, exercise a high degree of caution. COVID-19 testing is no longer required if you're fully vaccinated. Check with the nearest embassy or consulate of Nicaragua to confirm the latest entry requirements before travel. We advise: Exercise a high degree of caution in Nicaragua due to high levels of violent crime.

Burundi

We’ve reviewed our advice for Burundi. We haven’t changed the level of our advice, reconsider your need to travel. Higher levels apply in other areas. You must follow COVID-19 measures including proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of boarding your flight to Burundi. On arrival, you must also take a COVID-19 test and self-isolate at a hotel of your choice for 24 hours until you receive the test results. If you test positive for COVID-19, you'll be asked to self-quarantine at your own cost. (See 'Travel') We advise: Reconsider your need to travel to Burundi overall due to the threats of terrorism and political violence.

Uganda

We’ve reviewed our advice for Uganda. We haven’t changed the level of our advice, exercise a high degree of caution. Higher levels apply in other areas. You still need to follow COVID-19 measures in Uganda. This includes having proof of full COVID-19 vaccinations, except for children aged 5 years and below. (See 'Travel'). Algeria

We’ve reviewed our advice for Algeria. We haven’t changed the level of our advice, reconsider your need to travel. Higher levels apply in some areas. International flights to and from Algeria have resumed. Domestic flights are operational. On arrival in Algeria, you must present evidence of a completed vaccination schedule, with the latest booster within the last 9 months. Otherwise, a negative COVID-19 (PCR) test result taken 72 hours before arrival is required. COVID-19 measures can change at short notice (see 'Travel'). Mauritania

We’ve reviewed our advice for Mauritania. We haven’t changed the level of our advice. Reconsider your need to travel. Higher levels apply in other areas. Protests and demonstrations occur from time to time. Avoid political gatherings and demonstrations, and follow the advice of local authorities. Some COVID-19 measures and restrictions are still in place. You need to provide proof of vaccination, or a negative COVID-19 test 72hrs before arrival (see 'Travel'). We advise: Reconsider your need to travel to Mauritania overall due to the high risk of terrorist attack, kidnapping and violent crime.

Tanzania

We've reviewed our advice for Tanzania. We haven't changed the level of our advice, exercise a high degree of caution. Higher levels apply. You must present proof of full COVID-19 vaccinations with a QR code when you enter Tanzania. If you're not fully vaccinated, you'll be required to present a negative COVID-19 (PCR) test with a QR code taken within 72 hours of departure. We advise: Exercise a high degree of caution in Tanzania overall due to the risk of serious crime. Higher levels apply in some areas.

Israel and the Palestinian Territories

You can enter Israel, regardless of vaccination status, if you meet all current entry requirements, including having health insurance which covers COVID-19. Measures are in place to limit the spread of COVID-19 in the Palestinian Territories. Measures include restrictions at tourist and religious sites. Gaza’s entry and exit points with Egypt may close without notice. On 5 August 2022 Israeli airstrikes in Gaza resulted in multiple casualties. Retaliations saw extensive rocket fire into southern and central areas of Israel. The situation remains unpredictable. Be alert, avoid conflict zones, adhere to the advice of local authorities, and monitor the media for the latest updates. We advise: Exercise a high degree of caution in Israel and the Palestinian Territories overall due to civil unrest and the threat of terrorist attack, rocket fire and military confrontation. Higher levels apply in some areas.

Bosnia and Herzegovina

We've reviewed our travel advice for Bosnia and Herzegovina. We haven't changed the advice level, exercise a high degree of caution. All COVID-19 entry restrictions into Bosnia and Herzegovina have been lifted. We advise: Exercise a high degree of caution in Bosnia and Herzegovina due to the risk of landmines.

Chad

We’ve reviewed our advice for Chad. We haven’t changed the level of our advice and continue to advise, do not travel. Other levels apply. There is risk of terrorism, violent conflict and civil unrest in all parts of the country. If you're in Chad, you should remain vigilant. Avoid all large gatherings, protests and demonstrations. Closely monitor local media. We advise: Do not travel  to Chad overall due to the significant risk of terrorism, crime and civil unrest.

El Salvador

We’ve reviewed our advice for El Salvador and included new information on the State of Emergency which remains in place (see 'Safety'). We haven’t changed the level of our advice, reconsider your need to travel. We advise: Reconsider your need to travel to El Salvador due to the  high levels of gang-related violence.

Cameroon

We've reviewed our advice for Cameroon. We haven't changed the overall level, exercise a high degree of caution. Higher levels apply in some areas. We advise: Exercise a high degree of caution in Cameroon overall due to civil unrest and high levels of violent crime. Higher levels apply in some areas.

Djibouti

We've reviewed our advice for Djibouti. We haven't changed the level of our advice, exercise a high degree of caution. Higher levels apply in some areas. We advise: Exercise a high degree of caution in Djibouti overall due to the threat of terrorist attack and volatile regional security environment.  Higher levels apply in some areas.  

Japan

We've reviewed our advice for Japan. We haven't changed the level of our advice. We advise you exercise normal safety precautions. Higher levels apply in some areas. Japan is accepting foreign tourists in stages. Initially, this is limited to guided and organised tours only from countries listed as “blue” (low risk). Australia is listed as a blue country. The company organising your tour will sponsor your visa application. Be advised that Japan’s visa-waiver program is still suspended. We advise: Exercise normal safety precautions in Japan. Higher levels apply in some areas.

Liberia

Before travelling to Liberia you must complete a Health Screening form (see ‘Travel’). If you’re aged 18 years and over, you must show proof of COVID-19 vaccination on arrival. Land borders (with Sierra Leone, Guinea and Côte d’Ivoire) and ports are open. We advise: Exercise a high degree of caution in Liberia overall due to the sensitive political situation and the risk of violence and crime.

Samoa

We've reviewed our advice for Samoa. We've lowered the travel advice level. We now advise you exercise a high degree of caution. Weekly flights to and from Australia have recommenced. Check Samoa's Ministry of Health travel advice before you travel. You'll also need to comply with many COVID-19 measures. When boarding your flight, you'll need a legitimate vaccine certificate. You'll also need to show a negative COVID-19 (PCR) test within 48 hours or a supervised COVID-19 (RAT) test (within 24 hours) of entering Samoa. (See ‘Travel’). We now advise: Exercise a high degree of caution in Samoa due to limited healthcare systems. 

Iceland

A volcano has erupted near Reykjavik. Avoid the area near the eruption site and areas close to mountains with steep slopes on the Reykjanes peninsula due to the danger of falling rocks. Follow the advice of local authorities. We advise: Exercise normal safety precautions in Iceland.

France

We've reviewed our travel advice for France. We haven't changed the level of our advice, exercise a high degree of caution. COVID-19 measures have eased. Vaccination passes (pass sanitaire) are no longer required. If you're vaccinated against COVID-19, you're no longer required to provide evidence of a negative COVID-19 test for entry into France. Other forms may still apply (see 'Travel'). We advise: Exercise a high degree of caution in France due to the threat of terrorism

Bangladesh

We've reviewed our advice for Bangladesh. We haven't changed the level of our advice, exercise a high degree of caution. Higher levels apply. You must present proof of COVID-19 vaccination to officials at the airport on arrival. If you're partially vaccinated or not vaccinated for COVID-19, you must present proof of a negative COVID-19 test on arrival. The test must have been taken within 72 hours of your arrival in Bangladesh. You will also need to complete an online health declaration, no more than 72 hours before your arrival. You'll require a visa to enter Bangladesh. Arrange it before you travel. Visa-on-arrival facilities may be available (see 'Travel'). Check entry requirements with your airline or nearest Bangladesh diplomatic mission before making arrangements to travel to Bangladesh. We advise: Exercise a high degree of caution in Bangladesh overall due to the high threat of terrorist attack. Higher levels apply in some areas.  

Solomon Islands

We've reviewed our advice for Solomon Islands. We continue to advise you exercise a high degree of caution due to the possibility of further civil unrest and ongoing local restrictions. You still need to follow COVID-19 measures (see 'Travel'). Due to community transmission of COVID-19, further curfews or lockdowns for Honiara and other places are possible. Monitor and follow the advice of local authorities. We advise: Exercise a high degree of caution to Solomon Islands due to the  possibility of further  civil unrest and ongoing local restrictions.

Nigeria

We've reviewed our advice for Nigeria. We haven't changed the overall level, reconsider your need to travel. Some areas have an increased risk and we have raised the level of advice. The potential for terrorism, kidnapping, crime and civil unrest is high throughout Nigeria. Religious, ethnic and politically-motivated violence is increasing. Avoid intercity transport by road and rail. Groups often target transport routes. If despite our advice, you undertake travel within Nigeria, research routes and get professional security advice and support before departing. We advise: Reconsider your need to travel to Nigeria overall, including the capital Abuja and surrounding areas, due to high threats of terrorist attack and kidnapping, the volatile security situation, possible violent civil unrest and high levels of violent crime. Higher levels apply.

Spain

We've lowered the travel advice level for Spain. We now advise you exercise normal safety precautions. If you're arriving by air from outside the European Union or Schengen Area, you must provide an EU Digital COVID Certificate or complete the SpTH Health Control Form (see 'Travel'). You should refer to the Spanish Health website for the most up-to-date information on entry into Spain.  We now advise: Exercise normal safety precautions in Spain.

Moldova

Several bomb threats have recently been made against the international airport and other official buildings in the capital, Chisinau. Disruptions and delays are likely to occur as authorities respond to any threats. Monitor the media and follow the advice of local authorities. Reconsider your need to travel to Moldova due to the volatile security environment and military conflict in neighbouring Ukraine. Moldovan airspace is restricted. There are only a limited number of flights to and from Moldova. Russia's invasion of Ukraine is ongoing. Heavy fighting, including bombardments, explosions and missile launches, is ongoing throughout Ukraine. Civilians are being affected. Land border crossing points with Ukraine and Romania have experienced major delays. Do not to travel to Transnistria due to the volatile security situation. Ukraine

The Russian invasion of Ukraine is ongoing. The security situation continues to be volatile. Heavy fighting is occurring in parts of eastern and southern Ukraine. Missile strikes and attacks are ongoing in some locations across the country, including in major cities. There have been many casualties. Foreigners have been killed and may be targeted. Do not travel to Ukraine, there is a risk to life. If you’re in Ukraine, be aware of your surroundings, review your personal security plans and monitor media for information about changing security conditions and alerts to shelter in place. Where it's safe to do so, you should leave Ukraine. Carefully consider the safest means and route to depart. You're responsible for your own safety and that of your family. Follow the advice of local Ukrainian authorities. Do not enter into new surrogacy arrangements. Our ability to provide consular assistance in Ukraine is severely limited. The Australian Government will not be able to evacuat...

Venezuela

Do not travel to Venezuela. If you decide to travel, flight options to and from Venezuela are very limited and travelling within the country is challenging (see 'Travel'). COVID-19 remains a risk. You need to present a valid ‘Pase Viajero de Bioseguridad’ (traveller’s pass) at your port of origin to enter Venezuela. You must apply for the traveller’s pass 72 hours before your arrival through the official Biocheck website (Spanish only). You'll need proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a negative COVID-19 PCR-RT test within 72 hours of arrival to complete the traveller’s pass application. Australia doesn't have an embassy or consulate in Venezuela. Contact the Australian Embassy in Colombia for assistance (see 'Local Contacts'). We advise: Do not travel  to Venezuela due to the unstable political and economic situation, shortages of food, water, medicine and petrol, and high levels of violent crime.

Afghanistan

The situation in Afghanistan remains highly volatile. There continues to be an ongoing and very high threat of terrorist attack throughout Afghanistan, including around airports and at land border crossings. We continue to advise against all travel to and within Afghanistan. Travel throughout Afghanistan is extremely dangerous. Violent incidents could occur across the country. Land borders may close to travellers seeking to cross from Afghanistan and border crossing points are at risk of terrorist attack. You need to carefully consider the risks should you attempt to leave by any route. The Australian Government can't offer advice on the safety of travelling to departure points. Any travel options you pursue are taken at your own risk. You’re responsible for your own safety and that of your family. Take all extra precautions for your safety. Stay in a safe place. Taiwan

Taiwanese citizens, Alien Resident Certificate (ARC) holders, and transit passengers are exempt from having to do a PCR test before departing for Taiwan. If you don’t fall into these categories and you're able to enter Taiwan, you'll still need to a present a negative COVID-19 (PCR) test result. The test must be taken within 2 days of your scheduled departure. International transits at Taiwan's airports are permitted. Entry restrictions to Taiwan have changed to allow certain categories of short-term visitors (including interns and those visiting for language study or international exchanges) to enter Taiwan. (See 'Travel'). We advise:  Exercise a high degree of caution in Taiwan due to the impacts of COVID-19.

Costa Rica
