Myanmar

We continue to advise do not travel (level 4 of 4) to Myanmar due to ongoing civil unrest and armed conflict. Civil unrest and conflict can escalate quickly. The first anniversary of the coup on 1 February and other dates of significance may see increased tensions. Maintain heightened security awareness. Minimise movement, exercise caution, monitor media closely, and avoid all public gatherings. There are significant military movements in several regions of the country. Violence including explosions and attacks can occur anywhere and at any time, including in Yangon. Targets have included facilities, vehicles and personnel associated with security and administration such as police stations, ward administration, township electricity and road transportation offices, and civilian facilities such as shops and commercial centres. Avoid facilities and vehicles linked to security forces and military administration. Monitor local media closely and move away from anything of concern. Avoid all ...

Other test results including antibody tests are not accepted. PCR testing may also be required upon departure from Tajikistan. Face masks are mandatory in public. Contact your airline or your nearest embassy or consulate of Tajikistan to confirm entry requirements. We advise: Exercise a high degree of caution in Tajikistan overall due to the threat of terrorist attack and potential for civil unrest. Higher levels apply in some areas.

Pay attention to your personal safety. Follow the directions of local authorities. We continue to advise you should reconsider your need to travel to Burkina Faso due to the high risk of terrorist attack and kidnapping. The Australian High Commission in Accra has very limited capacity to provide consular assistance in West Africa. We now advise: Reconsider your need to travel  to Samoa due to the impacts of COVID-19.

Tanzania

We now advise 'Reconsider your need to travel' to the Mtwara region due to the threat of terrorism and kidnappings. See ‘Safety’. If you're travelling to Tanzania, you must have a negative COVID-19 (RT-PCR) test result taken in the 72 hours before your arrival, complete the Ministry of Health's online surveillance form in the 24 hours before arrival and take a rapid test on arrival. All travellers aged over 2 years of age must present dated evidence of a negative COVID-19 (PCR) test (with a QR Code) taken less than 48 hours before travel. Vaccinated travellers must also present proof of full vaccination. If you're not fully vaccinated, you must quarantine for 10 days in a government-approved hotel at your own cost. Fully vaccinated travellers aren't required to quarantine but if you show any COVID-19 symptoms, you should self-isolate and take a COVID-19 (PCR) test. All travellers may be subject to random COVID-19 rapid tests on arrival. A Tunisian vaccine pass is required for entry into public and private facilities and to enter cafes, restaurants, hotels and tourist establishments and can be applied for online. A curfew is in place between 10pm and 5am. This is for an initial 2 week period from 13 January and could be extended. We now advise: Reconsider your need to travel to Tunisia overall due to the impacts of COVID-19.

Iraq

The security situation throughout Iraq remains volatile. There has been an increase in protest activity following the parliamentary elections on 10 October. There's a risk the security situation could deteriorate further. Due to the volatile security environment and the ongoing threat of kidnappings, you should leave Iraq immediately by commercial means if it's safe to do so. You're responsible for your own safety and that of your family. A nationwide State of Emergency remains in place. The police have arrested and detained Australians and conducted searches of individuals and residences. Our ability to provide consular assistance across Ethiopia is extremely limited. If you need urgent consular assistance call the Consular Emergency Centre (CEC) on +61 2 6261 3305 or email Consular.AddisAbaba@dfat.gov....
