Nepal

We now advise all Australians to reconsider any non-essential overseas travel at this time, due to the health risks from the COVID-19 pandemic and the significant disruptions to global travel. This includes Nepal. Nepal has suspended all mountaineering permits, including for Mt. Everest, for the 2020 spring season (March through May). Nepal has enhanced screening and entry arrangements in response to COVID-19 and closed its land borders to foreign nationals. Tribhuvan International Airport is the only open entry point for Australians. From 14 March, you won't be eligible for a visa on arrival and will need a medical clearance certificate to enter Nepal. The Nepal Government will also require you to self-isolate for 14 days after arrival. Contact your airline or tour operator for the latest information. If authorities suspect you're infected with COVID-19, you may need to stay in hospital or be quarantined.

We now advise you to:

Reconsider your need to travel to Nepal.
