Switzerland
We now advise all Australians not to travel overseas at this time, due to the health risks from the COVID-19 pandemic and the significant disruptions to global travel. This includes to Switzerland. If you’re already overseas and wish to return to Australia, we recommend you do so as soon as possible by commercial means.
Switzerland has confirmed cases of COVID-19 in all 26 cantons and the Principality of Liechtenstein. The Swiss Federal Government has declared the situation as an ‘Extraordinary Situation’ under the Epidemics Act. Essential services are open, but educational and leisure facilities are closed. All public events are now forbidden. Checks will be carried out at the borders to Italy, Germany, France and Austria. Military personnel are being deployed to support hospitals, logistics and security.
