If you're in Bulgaria and wish to return to Australia, we recommend you do so as soon as possible while commercial options are still available. Many airlines have suspended flights and many airports are closing, preventing flights from leaving. The Bulgarian Government has proclaimed a state of emergency. Entry to non-EU citizens is temporarily suspended and is recommending only essential travel for EU citizens. The suspension also restricts entry to persons travelling from high-risk countries (see Travel). The Ministry of Health issued an order making the wearing of protective masks mandatory while outdoors. If you can't or don't want to leave, follow the advice of local authorities and minimise your risk of exposure to COVID-19. Stay in touch with family and friends so they know you're safe and well.
