France

Commercial options to leave France are increasingly limited. If you decide to return to Australia, do so as soon as possible while flights are available. Follow the Australian Embassy social media accounts for regular updates. (See Local contacts for links.) You need a government certificate to travel to France, even if you're just transiting. You can find the certificate on the website of the French Embassy in Canberra. All non-essential movement is currently prohibited throughout France. You need to carry a certificate at all times in public. You'll be fined for unauthorised travel. The French medical system is under severe strain. Some hospitals may soon approach their capacity. If you're staying in France, follow the advice of local authorities and minimise your risk of exposure to COVID-19. Keep in touch with family and friends so they know you're safe and well. If you need urgent consular assistance call +61 2 6261 3305.

We advise you:

Do not travel to France.
