France

Commercial options to leave France are extremely limited. If you decide to return to Australia, do so as soon as possible while flights are available. Follow the Australian Embassy social media accounts for regular updates. (See Local contacts for links). All travel to the EU and Schengen Area is restricted for non-EU nationals. Other nationalities may not enter France, but are permitted to transit under certain conditions. You need a government certificate to enter or transit through France. You can find the certificate on the website of the French Embassy in Canberra. All non-essential movement is currently prohibited throughout France. You need to carry a certificate at all times in public. You'll be fined for unauthorised travel. The French medical system is under severe strain. Some hospitals may soon approach their capacity. If you're staying in France, follow the advice of local authorities and minimise your risk of exposure to COVID-19. Keep in touch with family and friends so they know you're safe and well. If you need urgent consular assistance call +61 2 6261 3305.

We advise you:

Do not travel to France.
