Malaysia

Malaysia has implemented a 'Movement Control Order' in response to COVID-19. All tourists are banned from entering the country. Non-essential government services, businesses, education and religious institutions are closed. Large gatherings and mass movements are prohibited. There are limited direct flights from Malaysia to Australia. If you want to leave Malaysia, check with airlines or your travel provider, as transit restrictions and flight availability change regularly. You can also register with the Australian High Commission (malaysia.highcommission.gov.au) and follow it on social media for regular updates, including on commercial flight options (see ‘Local contacts’) . If you remain in Malaysia, follow the advice of local authorities, make arrangements for an extended stay and minimise your exposure to COVID-19. Stay in touch with family and friends so they know you’re safe. For urgent consular assistance, email ahckl.consular@dfat.gov.au or call +60 3 2146 5555 during business hours; or +61 2 6261 3305 at any time of day.

We now advise you to:

Do not travel to Malaysia.
