Papua New Guinea
Papua New Guinea has extended the national State of Emergency. Services across PNG will be affected due to the reduced availability of public transport. Domestic flights will be restricted. Individual provinces may impose additional restrictions, including lockdowns. PNG has closed its borders to foreign travellers, including those arriving by sea (see Travel). If you’re in PNG and wish to return to Australia, do so as soon as possible as departure options are diminishing. If you remain in PNG, follow the advice of local authorities and take care to minimise your risk of exposure to COVID-19. Make arrangements to stay for a possible extended period, and stay in contact with family and friends so they know you’re safe. The High Commission will remain open during the State of Emergency but is providing essential services only, including consular and passport services (email consular.portmoresby@dfat.gov.au for an appointment).
We now advise you to:
Do not travel to Papua New Guinea overall.
