Commercial options to leave France are extremely limited. If you decide to return to Australia, do so as soon as possible while flights are available. Follow the Australian Embassy social media accounts for regular updates (see Local contacts for links). Only EU and Schengen nationals may enter France. Other nationalities may not enter, but are permitted to transit under certain conditions (see Travel section). All non-essential movement is currently prohibited throughout France, however the government is now gradually easing lockdown (see Travel section). This may be stopped or reversed if the health situation worsens. The French medical system is under severe strain. If you're staying in France, follow the advice of local authorities and minimise your risk of exposure to COVID-19. Keep in touch with family and friends so they know you're safe and well.
