Guatemala
There are movement restrictions across Guatemala. If you're leaving, you must show a letter of safe passage (salvoconducto) from the Guatemalan Government to travel to your departure location, such as the airport. The letter will take at least 72 hours to be issued. Apply as early as possible. The Australian Embassy in Mexico can help you get it. You could be fined if you don't respect local laws, including quarantine and movement restrictions. If you wish to leave Guatemala, follow the Australian Embassy in Mexico on social media for regular updates on any departure options such as unscheduled flights. If you're staying in Guatemala, follow the advice of local authorities, remain inside your accommodation and minimise your risk of exposure to COVID-19. Stay in touch with family and friends so they know you're safe and well.
We advise you:
Do not travel to Guatemala.
