Malawi
Malawi has declared a state of disaster in response to COVID-19. The national lockdown, scheduled to begin on 18 April, has been blocked by an injunction by the High Court. Follow the advice of local authorities as the situation is likely to change at short notice. All scheduled international flights are cancelled. Land borders are closed except for cargo and returning residents. If you're staying in Malawi, make arrangements for an extended stay and minimise your risk of exposure to COVID-19. The Australian Government has no plans to repatriate you. Stay in touch with family and friends so they know you're safe and well. The Australian Embassy in Harare continues to provide limited consular services. If you need urgent consular assistance call +263 (024) 2 853 235 55. You can email the Embassy at consular.Harare@dfat.gov.au.
We advise you:
Do not travel to Malawi.
