Portugal

Portugal’s borders remain closed. All travel to the EU and Schengen Area including Portugal is restricted for non-EU nationals. The State of Emergency has been downgraded to a State of Calamity. Restrictions remain on non-essential travel throughout Portugal. You're required to wear a mask in shops and on public transport, and you may be fined if you don't comply. If you're in Portugal and want to return to Australia, contact your airline, travel agent or insurance company while commercial flights are still operating. If you're staying in Portugal, monitor local media for updates to restrictions and safety measures, and follow the advice of local authorities. Minimise your risk of exposure to COVID-19 including by self-isolating. If you reman, our ability to provide consular assistance to you may be limited. Follow the Australian Embassy on social media for updates on local measures and flight availability (see 'Local contacts').

We advise you:

Do not travel to Portugal.
