Indonesia
From 13 July, Indonesia’s Directorate General of Immigration (DGI) will no longer automatically extend expired visas or stay permits under the COVID-19 emergency arrangements. For more information, see the ‘Travel' section of this advice.
Australians in Indonesia should consult DGI as soon as possible to confirm your stay permit’s validity and how and whether it can be renewed under the new arrangements within 30 days of 13 July. Australian holders of expired stay permits (KITAS/KITAP) who are currently outside Indonesia will have to return to Indonesia within 60 days of 13 July to renew their visa – contact DGI and/or the nearest Indonesian embassy or consulate for more information.
Overstaying your permit may result in fines, detention and/or deportation. Flight options to Australia are already very limited and may reduce further.
Indonesian authorities require a negative PCR COVID-19 test result for all foreign arrivals. This test must have been conducted within the 7 days prior to travel. You must also self-quarantine for 14 days after arrival in country. Domestic travel restrictions and social distancing measures remain in place for many locations.
COVID-19 is widely prevalent in Indonesia with continuing transmission across the country.
