The 4 August explosions have caused widespread damage and casualties in Beirut. Hospitals are under strain. Protests are taking place in Beirut, some of which have turned violent. Avoid protests and Beirut’s port area. Confirmed cases of COVID-19 are increasing. Local authorities have announced restrictions including a night-time curfew and closure of some venues. Masks are mandatory in public; you’ll be fined if you don’t wear one. Monitor the media and follow the advice of local authorities. Remain alert and contact your family and friends to let them know you’re safe.
