Niger

There has been an increase in the level of violence following the Presidential election. Heavy gunfire has exchanged between security forces and an armed group near the Presidential Palace in Niamey. We continue to advise do not travel to Niger due to the unpredictable security environment and continuing potential for disorder and violence. Our global travel advice remains do not travel due to the risk of COVID-19 and significant disruptions to global travel.
