The security situation in Afghanistan is extremely dangerous. There's an increased risk of attacks (see 'Safety'). If you’re still in Afghanistan, you should leave as soon as possible by commercial means if it’s safe to do so. If despite our advice, you’re staying in Afghanistan, stay alert, be aware of your surroundings and review your personal security plans. The Australian Embassy's ability to provide consular services to Australians in Afghanistan is extremely limited. The serious and ongoing threats of kidnapping remain.
