The state of emergency in Tokyo and Okinawa has been extended to 31 August. It has also been expanded to include Saitama, Chiba, Kanagawa and Osaka. This period will overlap with the beginning of the Paralympic Games. Bars and restaurants cannot serve alcohol and will close at 8pm. Strict non-emergency measures are also in place in Hokkaido, Ishikawa, Kyoto, Hyogo and Fukuoka until 31 August. Spectators are not allowed at Olympic venues in Tokyo, Saitama, Chiba, Kanagawa, Hokkaido and Fukushima. Flight options to Australia are limited. Flights are subject to availability under international arrival caps. Flight schedules may change at short notice. There will be an increased demand for seats on commercial flights to Australia during and immediately after the Olympic and Paralympic Games until late September.
