Mali
The political and security situation could get worse suddenly. Avoid large gatherings, remain vigilant and follow the advice of local authorities. The Australian High Commission in Accra has very limited capacity to provide consular assistance in Mali. The Canadian Embassy can provide emergency consular assistance to Australians in need (see 'Local contacts'). If you're in Mali, you should consider leaving by commercial means if it's safe to do so.
We continue to advise:
Do not travel to Mali due to:
- the national state of emergency, and the high risk of terrorism and kidnapping. This includes the capital, Bamako
- the health risks from the COVID-19 pandemic and the significant disruptions to global travel.
