Lebanon
On 14 October 2021, armed clashes occurred in Tayouneh and Chiyah (Beirut), involving the exchange of live fire and multiple casualties. Protests are taking place, some of which have turned violent. Avoid protests and if you are caught in civil unrest, stay inside. There are shortages of medicines and fuel, with frequent power outages. Restrictions are in place, including a nightly curfew and closure of some areas and services. You'll have to undergo COVID-19 (PCR) testing before travelling to Lebanon and on arrival, some exemptions apply. Masks are mandatory in public; you could be fined if you don’t wear one. Monitor media and follow the advice of local authorities.
We continue to advise:
Do not travel to Lebanon due to the health risks from the COVID-19 pandemic and the significant disruptions to global travel.
