The security situation throughout Iraq remains volatile. There has been an increase in protest activity following the parliamentary elections on 10 October. There's a risk the security situation could deteriorate further in the new year. Due to the volatile security environment and the ongoing threat of kidnappings, you should consider leaving Iraq immediately by commercial means if it's safe to do so.
