Papua New Guinea

PNG's borders remain closed to most travellers. If you're not a PNG citizen, you'll only be allowed to enter if you're fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and have permission from local authorities. If you're allowed to enter PNG, you may be required to quarantine at a designated facility if you test positive for COVID-19 on arrival, have come from a high-risk country, or aren’t fully vaccinated. There are some restrictions for domestic travel within PNG, including for gatherings. There is widespread community transmission of COVID-19 in most districts and provinces, including the Delta variant. COVID-19 is a serious health risk and is impacting the capacity of local health services. Follow the advice of local authorities and minimise your risk of infection.

We now advise:

Reconsider your need to travel to Papua New Guinea overall due to the impacts of COVID-19.
