Sudan

Following the military dissolution of the transitional government on 25 October, a Political Agreement between the military and civilian government was made on 21 November. The agreement returns Sudan to a civilian – military governance arrangement. Despite the agreement, large scale protests continue to take place across the country. There are reports of violence against protestors, including deaths. Avoid all demonstrations and remain vigilant. Khartoum International Airport is open, however commercial flights may be limited. Internet and mobile services remain unreliable. You should limit your movements and avoid non-essential travel. Monitor media coverage and follow the advice of local authorities (see ‘Safety’).

We now advise:

Reconsider your need to travel to Sudan overall due to:

  • ongoing civil unrest, the threat of terrorist attack
  • the impacts of COVID-19
