Military action is underway in Ukraine. Russian troops have entered Ukrainian territory. Heavy fighting, including bombardments, explosions and missile launches, is ongoing around Kyiv and other areas of the country. Civilians are being impacted. Land border crossing points with Ukraine have major delays. Expect highly congested routes, checkpoints, lengthy queues and delays. Make sure you have a supply of food, water, medication and fuel. You should not attempt to cross into Ukraine from Slovakia. You should follow the instructions of the local authorities at all times. If you have arrived in Slovakia from Ukraine and are in need of assistance, contact the Consular Emergency Centre on 1300 555 135 in Australia or +61 2 6261 3305 outside Australia.

To enter Slovakia you'll need to pre-register and be fully vaccinated. Otherwise you must self-isolate for 5 days or until you return a negative PCR test result. If you're transiting through Slovakia within 72 hours or are arriving under immediate threat of armed conflict, you're not required to pre-register, self-isolate or provide proof of vaccination.

We advise:

Exercise a high degree of caution in Slovakia due to the impacts of COVID-19.
