Madagascar
Intense tropical cyclone Freddy is expected to make landfall on the central eastern coastline of Madagascar late Tuesday night (21 February) or early Wednesday morning (22 February). Follow the advice of local authorities. Monitor local news sources, including radio and the Bureau Nationale de Gestion des Risques et des Catastrophes (BNGRC) for up-to-date information. Avoid affected areas. If you're already in Madagascar, decide early whether to shelter in place or leave.
We now advise:
Exercise a high degree of caution in Madagascar due to the potential for crime, natural disasters and disease outbreaks.
