China

From 29 April, if you're arriving on an international flight into China, you can take a rapid antigen self-test (RAT) within 48 hours before boarding. Airlines will no longer check your test certificate before boarding. Read the updated 'Guidelines for the Prevention and Control of Epidemics for Travelers to China' (see 'Travel’). You're no longer required to undertake pre-departure COVID-19 testing requirements if you arrive in Australia from China. As previously advised, authorities have detained foreigners on the grounds of 'endangering national security'. Australians may be at risk of arbitrary detention.

We advise:

Exercise a high degree of caution in China overall due to ongoing local COVID-19 restrictions.

Other levels apply in some areas.
