Ecuador

We've reviewed our advice for Ecuador. We've lowered the travel advice level. We now advise exercise a high degree of caution due to high levels of crime. Higher levels apply in some areas. There is a state of emergency in the provinces of Esmeraldas, Santa Elena and Los Rios, and the cities of Guayaquil, Samborondón and Duran due to security and crime-related issues. Monitor local media and follow the Ecuadorian Government's official advice (see Safety).
