Peru
We've reviewed our advice for Peru. We now advise exercise a high degree of caution in Apurimac, Ayacucho, Cusco and Puerto Maldonado. Higher levels apply. Due to weather conditions, a State of Emergency remains in place in northern coastal and some central parts of Peru. Travel services, including inter-provincial road travel, may be disrupted. Tourist attractions may be temporarily closed. Civil unrest has been affecting some regions in central and southern Peru. We continue to advise reconsider your need to travel to the province of Puno as a State of Emergency and local curfews remain in place. Take precautions to ensure your safety. Avoid areas affected by civil unrest. If protests develop where you are, leave if it's safe to. Follow the advice of local authorities. Contact your airline or travel provider for updates.
We advise:
Exercise a high degree of caution in Peru overall due to the high risk of violent crime.
Higher levels apply in some areas.
