Recent protests in Conakry and other towns in Guinea have turned violent, resulting in several deaths and injuries. There is potential for further protests to take place. There are currently heightened political and social tensions, including in the capital Conakry, with the potential for the situation to deteriorate without warning. Avoid protests and public gatherings and remain vigilant. Follow the advice of local authorities and monitor local media for updates. The Australian High Commission in Accra has very limited capacity to provide consular assistance in Guinea.
