Sudan

We've reviewed our advice for Sudan and continue to advise do not travel. Australians should strongly consider leaving Sudan as soon as possible. There are commercial departure options from Port Sudan and Port Suakin. You may also be able to enter Egypt and other neighbouring countries via land borders. You need valid travel documentation and visas to exit Sudan and enter Saudi Arabia or Egypt. Carefully consider the risks for any departure route, including during ceasefires (see 'Full advice - Safety'). The security situation remains volatile, and violence could escalate at short notice. Adopt appropriate personal security measures and remain vigilant. Monitor media and continue to follow our advice on Smartraveller.

We continue to advise:

Do not travel to Sudan due to the dangerous security situation and the threat of armed conflict and civil unrest.
